Cows for Kisoro

Treasures in Heaven

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21 (NIV)

Having recently been encouraged by All Saints’ vicar, Ian Parkinson, to examine our attitudes to earthly treasures, Tracy Higgins’ cell felt led to email Jenny Green, in Kisoro, Uganda, to ask for specific prayer and financial needs.

Jenny asked specifically for £300 to purchase two cows to graze the project site land, and subsequently provide milk for the children, and to fund the building of a security shelter for a guard/cow minder. This request was brought to the cell group. The cell finished at 10.30 pm, and amazingly by midnight the exact amount of money had been given or pledged, with only the person responsible for co-ordinating the collection of donations knowing how much had been pledged or given at that time. Isn’t God truly amazing?

Tracy’s cell have been able to tell Jenny within less than a week of her initial request that they have the money and are in the process of making arrangements to get it to her.

Once the Potters Village is operational, there will be opportunity to sponsor the children living there as a means of providing an income for the project. Jenny estimates that the project will need £20,000 a year to cover its costs, so there is plenty of scope to provide ongoing support. If you or your cell is interested in finding out more about this please contact Tracy Higgins or Jon Duncan-Rees or any members of their cell for further info.

Things Jenny has asked us to pray for:

  1. The process of electing a new bishop – that it will be a peaceful and smooth process and that whoever is appointed will be a great blessing.

  2. The release of diocesan bank accounts

  3. The right contractors to carry out the building work
